Welcome!

This is the first official post on my new business website.
I thought that I would start by posting some pictures of floral design that inspire me (more specifically brides bouquets). I think that not all design needs to be over the top....things stuffed full of flowers. In fact, in truth I believe that it takes more experience to use less and create the illusion of having more. These are some pictures where I believe less truly looks and feels like more.
I love the simplicity of the crisp white calla lilies with the loose loops of dark green lily grass through them. The brides bouquet looks finished with the pin-fastened detail on the ribbon along the calla lily stems.
I also enjoyed this brides bouquet which has taken the traditional rose and put a contemporary twist on it. The bouquet, filled with a mixture of red roses and orange colored calla lilies, looks more modern with a strong loop of grass thrusting through the flowers and exiting at the bottom by the stems.
This brides bouquet also displays a great use of the bear grass loops. I love the combination of bright colored traditional roses, contrasting with the sleek white calla lilies, and feminine bright pink sweet pea. Sort of hodgepodge when put on paper, but the combination is beautiful.
This brides bouquet displays beautiful tropical flowers and elegant features.
Here is another beautiful brides bouquet which features orange calla lilies and red kangaroo paw. I love the bright colors and the contrasting green and white variegated grass loops.
Now just to show you that not all bouquets have to be round hand-tied, filled with roses or calla lilies I included these pictures. I really like the use of snake grass, it is not only on the handle of the bouquet, but in tiny pieces that are wired amongst the flowers with copper wire. It has a great modern/ Asian feel to it.
I LOVE IT!
This bouquet I posted because I love the way the stems are fastened together. It goes to show that you don't always have to use ribbon, for a more natural or "organic" theme you can use grass. I love the variegated grass which is fastened with green hypericum berries and black pins. Beautifully done!

This is probably a better example of the more traditional roundy-moundy brides bouquets that we're all used to seeing. I did however, want to showcase the use of colors in it. Notice the peach colored roses that blend so well with the creme colored orchids. Both are soft and elegant. The purple eucalyptus and green bear grass contrast nicely with the soft and feminine lighter colors. You don't always have to go monochromatic. You can use complementary colors also, the peach is a softer version of orange, which sits opposite of blue on the color wheel. The purple is is a nicer version of blue which compliments the peach.
I also liked the contrasting colors in this bouquet-- green and red. Traditionally green and red are only used during Christmas time, but in this bouquet they resemble nothing of the sort. The pincushion flower gives great texture to the soft petals of the rose. The bright green cymbidium orchids are dispersed ever so carefully to draw the eye throughout the bouquet. And the three ribbons of bear grass looped through the round bouquet give a sense of movement. Very inspiring!
Well, I hope you all enjoyed these as much as I did.
Simpliciy is beauty.
I also need to give credit and thanks to www.petalsgalore.com,which is where all these bouquets were from. If you want to see more of their work, click on the link on the side.
